I have to admit that last year’s debut of Ride The Beav was rushed. I didn’t spend nearly the amount of time on it as it deserved, especially with all of the attention it ended up receiving, not too mention all the work Doug was doing. I also have to admit that I rushed it because another site of (somewhat) similar mentality was announced and I wanted to be first out of the gates. I’m not entirely sure that being first really means anything at all, but nonetheless it forced me to follow through with the project, and for that I am grateful.

We saw a lot of really interesting things happen. People really seemed to take to the idea of a site like this and it developed a ton of new friendships. We saw multiple renegade/pirate beaver skull die cuts that came from who knows where. We witnessed a lifty at Centennial hunt down Doug for stickers via his call board. My neighbor that I’m pretty sure hates us “renters” had a beaver skull sticker on his truck. Following the lead of Justine Nadherny we were able to be front and center with a great charitable event. We also found ourselves knee deep in a bit of controversy. I never really considered ourselves a legit form of media or branding presence, but we are, and there’s a responsibility that goes along with that—a responsibility that comes with growth I guess.

But everything that we were fortunate enough to be part of and all the new friends we made last season has only made us want to crush it even more, and so let’s get to RTB2010.

RTB User Registration

Starting Next week we will be sending out Registration Invitations to people associated with our facebook page. **NOTE** that this is different from last season’s FB community profile. FB Pages are less obtrusive and offer more in the way of customization. Chances are you have not yet become a fan of RTB, so please do so if you want to be sent an invitation.

The reason for closed registration is two fold. For one, creating the “people pages” last year was impossible to orchestrate, and we only ended up with enough content for about 5 people. Horribly inefficient. This way, you can offer us with the info you want to be public, and your profile will be auto-generated upon approval. The second reason is to offer private content as well as public content. Though we are not affiliated with Vail Resorts, or Beaver Creek Mountain, we do respect them. Offering private content allows us to be less biased of what we publish, while assuring tourists who find this site do not see specific “gray area” content.

RTB Sponsored Bar Crawls brought to you by Turtle Tubing

I have been working with the guys over at Turtle Tubing and we plan to do a few fun apre’ events. Free Ride on the Bus, with the best Drink Specials in town! More on that to come.

More Involvement with the Skiers

Sorry guys, we’ve been way too snowboard focused and this going to change.

Scheduled Shooting Times

There was very little, if any, structured scheduling in terms of when and where we shot. We have worked out a bit more efficient system by which we will create weekly schedules based on the weather forecast, and post a block of time that we plan to shoot. Registered Users will be able to RSVP to these shoots, so we know who is available.

Real Time Media & Live Broadcasting

This one is still too hush hush to go into, but you can rest assured that if we pull this off, we will be revolutionizing the game!

Love for the Ladies

We have every intention of helping Justine again, and this year we will raise even more money!

Regular Video Podcasts

Tyler is so sick at filming and editing, and we plan to have short highlight reels as often as possible.

Feature Film

We’ve been tossing the idea around, and if we have enough support, money, and time, we absolutely will!!

Phew… Well I haven’t slept in 48 hours, and think I might go blind staring at this computer screen for any longer. Enjoy the new site, and please let us know of any bugs you encounter, as I am sure you will find plenty. Oh, and if you are using IE6 or IE7 upgrade for the love of god, I don’t feel like dealing with that BS.

Staats.
